it serves to remind me that the RAV4 used to be worse and better.

I don’t hate it. Tried to get one as a loaner, but they gave me the RX.

The front end reminds me of one of those giant whales designed to filter krill ...

Please - it’s too late for me to google “whales ...” ... the things! With the big mouths! It’s ugly!

I don’t know why people don’t like the new Lexuses. Though I hate that it’s now being applied to ordinary economy cars (looking at you Toyota), I think the super aggressive giant grilles and angles-and-pointy-bits designs look great on luxury/larger cars

Haha, you get a pass! Besides, the Lexus do look a bit more like filter-feeding sharks since the Camry’s got the baleen-front covered...

The NX is an ordinary economy car? It’s a RAV4 underneath...

Also, this is large/luxury, but it still ain’t working for me...

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Ahh, now that’s gorgeous and elegant. <3

yep - agree, one of the best current Lexi. Kinda surprised they don’t sell more of these.

I think it was Peugeot started this nonsense ... no car needs that much intake. Except maybe an F1 racer. And a lot of it probably doesn’t even do anything useful!

Well they’re platform-mates with everything riding on MC, so these:

Toyota AlphardAH20 (2008–present) [2]

Toyota AvensisT270 (2008–present) [2]

Toyota AurisE150 (2006–2012), E180 (2012–present)

Toyota CorollaE150 (2006–2013), E170 (2013–present)

Toyota HarrierXU60 (2013–present)

Toyota Mark X ZioAA10 (2007–2013) [2]

Toyota PreviaXR50 (2006–present) [2]

Toyota PriusXW30 (2009–present) [2]

Toyota Prius vXW40 (2011–present) [2]

Toyota RAV4XA30 (2005–2013), [2]   XA40 (2013–present)

Toyota VersoAR20 (2009–present)

Toyota SaiK10 (2009–present) [2]

Scion tCAT20 (2010–2016)

Scion xBE150 (2007–2015) [2]

Lexus CTA10 (2011–present) [2]

Lexus HS — (2009–present) [2]

Lexus NXAZ10 (2014–present)

As for your second point, I think that’s most people’s problem—sure these new cars aren’t necessarily that bad, but compared to the clean elegance that preceded it the effect is senseless garishness.

I don’t like any of their other vehicles. The grille just looks bizzare to me. For some strange reason it works here, maybe being black and not surrounded by chrome?

Which is ironic considering their latest cars are beautifully razor-sharp and clean-cut while the rest of the industry races to mimic their “gawping” maws from the ‘-07' years.

It starts with the same basic unibody underpinning, but the rest of the chassis has been completely redesigned according to Lexus. It even has active suspension as an option in 2018. Thankfully it has a 6spd Auto, and not a CVT transmission.

Well of course, that’s to be expected—I was just pointing out that Lexus still isn’t too far removed from Toyota in that the basic vehicles underneath are similar but Lexus just gets nicer things added to it.

Not a fan of the grill, the separated lights and the overly aggressive styling.
